A side-by-side look at how DocullyVDR compares — built on facts, not marketing claims about a competitor we haven't independently verified.

Questions Worth Asking

Questions Worth Asking Before You Sign

Whichever provider you're evaluating — including this one — these are the questions worth getting a straight answer to. Here's where DocullyVDR stands on each.

How many data center regions can you actually choose from?

SecureDocs (now an Onit product) hosts primarily in the US, with an Ireland/Germany option for EU customers — roughly 2–3 regions depending on how you count. DocullyVDR offers 60+ locations. If your deal has jurisdiction-specific hosting or data residency needs beyond the US and EU, ask exactly which regions are actually available to you today.

Can an outside party view a document via a standalone, revocable, watermarked link — without being added as a full user of the room?

We found no public documentation of a standalone external share-link feature; SecureDocs’ watermarking applies to documents inside the room. Ask them directly whether an external, revocable, expiring link exists outside of adding someone as a room user.

Can you create an administrator role that’s limited to specific folders or permissions, rather than full administrative control?

SecureDocs documents granular view/download/print permissions per user or group, but we found no folder-scoped limited-administrator role — group admins appear to have full visibility. Ask them directly whether this exists.

Has the platform been audited by a MEitY-empanelled VAPT auditor?

SecureDocs’ security documentation cites ISO 27001 and SOC 1/2 only — no India-specific certification found. If relevant to your deal, ask for the auditor’s name and empanelment status in writing.

SecureDocs is now owned by Onit, an AI-powered contract lifecycle management company. What happens when AI features arrive in SecureDocs?

As of this writing, SecureDocs itself has no public AI features — which also means there’s nothing to ask about training today. But given its parent company’s AI focus, it’s worth asking in writing now what commitments they’ll make about not training on your deal documents before any AI feature ships, rather than finding out after the fact.
